The Pittsburgh District held its summer meeting on July 31st, 2022 at the Lamplighter in Delmont, hosted by Branch S343.
Archabbot Douglas Nowicki said the opening prayer and after the pledge of allegiance, National President Cynthia Maleski led the singing of God Bless America. Following the luncheon, Archabbot Douglas lead the members in a prayer service to St. Anne.
President Judy Fedor introduced Branch Secretary Joanna Hageder, who recognized the branch officers, and presented her with a check for the District’s contribution to the luncheon and Mass for the members of Branch S343.
Following roll call and the reading of the minutes and Treasurer’s report, President Judy recognized Aimee Perry, President of Branch 433. Aimee has been making the lottery tree for the district meetings for over 5 years. She was presented with a gift of appreciation.
National President Cynthia Maleski addressed the members. She spoke of the celebration of St. Anne’s day and the annual Slovak Day at Kennywood Park. She updated the members on home office business and various issues such as Founders Month, new interest rates and new employees. FCSLA is consistently ranked as one of the strongest fraternal societies by AM Best. President Maleski congratulated Archabbot Douglas for his 50 years in the priesthood; he was ordained on May 21st, 1972.
This is an election year for the Pittsburgh District. Dr. Judith Figura, Chair of the Nominations Committee, along with her committee members, presented the Committee’s slate of nominees. As there were no additional nominees from the floor, the candidates will be sworn in at the October meeting. The District conducted drawings for the Share the Wealth and the lottery tree, and Branch S343 gave away lovely centerpieces.
The meeting was adjourned and Father Chad Ficorilli lead the closing prayer. The meeting was concluded with the singing of Hej Slovaci.
