FCSLA Junior Branches 96, 174, 106, 322, 339, 382, 427 and the Chicago District sponsored a Junior Christmas Party for its members on Saturday, November 3, 2012 in St. Simon Slovak Parish’s gymnasium.
The 43 children and 55 adults participated in snowman beanbag toss, cookie decorating, face painting, a coloring contest, and several games of bingo. Svätý Mikuláš (St. Nicholas), Bishop of 4th Century Myra, Turkey arrived, gathering the children around him to share many interactive stories. St. Nicholas enlisted the children and parents to assist in bringing to life the story of Svätý Mikuláš. The audience was enlightened by the story of Saint Nicholas and his love of children. Svätý Mikuláš presented apples to all the children and posed for both a group and individual photos.
The Junior Branches Coloring Contest had three $25.00 prize winners: Grace Zolna, J322; Addison Gillen, J339; and Connor Zittner, J339. A raffle was held with four grand raffle prizes: two $25 Best Buy gift cards won by Joceyln Wayer (S287) and Bailey Harrison (J382), a Nintendo DS won by Kaedin Zittner and an IdeaPad A1 Tablet won by Olivia Satala all donated by Joyce Kelly and John Merkel.
A special thank you to the Jr. Christmas Party Committee: Jeanette Palanca, Joyce Kelly, Lorraine Gibas, Carol Rosenthal and Mary Therese Tylus for all their hard work and preparation in making this event a success. A huge thank you to the Committee’s elves: Austin and Quinn Palanca, Barbara Schultz, Agnes Meske, Cathleen Lehocky, Mary Beth Pac, Jarmila and Fay Hlubocky for set up, manning the many activites and helping with the clean up.
