The Anna Hurban District of Chicago welcomed in the holiday season with the combined annual Senior Branches Christmas Party on December 7, 2019, and invited our members and their guests to participate in a “Split the Pot” Matching Funds Raffle. The matching funds raised were a combination of proceeds from a “Split the Pot Cash Raffle,” as well as cash donations made by our members to support our sponsored charity, South Suburban Family Shelter.
South Suburban Family Shelter (SSFS), located in Homewood, Illinois, provides free services for over 1,900 domestic violence victims. South Suburban Family Shelter relies on donations from the community at large for all of their free services, which includes holiday meals and gifts for affected families. The Matching Funds activities raised over $1,000 in total for this deserving charity. In addition to the cash donations raised, members attending also brought a total of 2 car loads of non-perishable food items for the Shelter.
Thank you to all our members and guests for your generosity to this admirable organization.
