Saturday, October 5, 2013, the Anna Hurban Chicago Branches and District co-hosted a “Bring a Friend/Tell a Friend” event that included an FCSLA financial products presentation by our National Sales Manager, Patrick Braun. The event was the idea of Chicago’s District Treasurer, Carol Rosenthal, who pitched the idea to both the District and Branch Officers to co-host an event that would potentially boost membership for the various Branches and District.
The audience consisted of prospective new and existing members wanting to learn more about the benefits of membership, but most importantly about the various products that we offer. The questions were numerous, with enlightening answers and many “ah ha – I didn’t know that” comments.
The group feasted on a delicious Slovak-laden luncheon consisting of stuffed cabbage, polish sausage and sauerkraut, breaded pork, mushroom soup, dumplings and koláčky.
District President, Mary Therese Tylus, shared with the group the various Junior and Senior member social and fraternal activities that the District had held up to that point, while giving a great advertising pitch to the upcoming Junior Member St. Nick’s and Combined Senior Branch Christmas parties. She also reminded the existing members that District meetings are open for their attendance and to become Best-Friends-Forever (BFFs) with their Branch Officers and the District website for more details about future events.
Overall, for a first-time-ever event the Chicago District and its Branch Officers once again piloted a new idea and way of reaching out to prospective and existing members.
