The Chicago Junior Branches are hosting their Annual Christmas Partyon Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Camp Manitoqua, 8122 West Sauk Trail, Frankfort, Illinois. The event will be held from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Cost is $18 per person, and RSVPs are due to your Junior Branch Officer no later than October 21, 2018.

The Chicago Anna Hurban District hosted its annual scholarship awards luncheon for its twenty Chicago District Scholarship winners and their guests on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Mayor’s Mansion (formerly European Chalet) in Chicago, Illinois. For twelve consecutive years, officers and members from the District Anna Hurban of Chicago met on Saturday, April 21, 2018, for its Join Hands Day event at the Edward Hines, Jr., VA Hospital. Nineteen District members, including District and Branch Officers, spent the afternoon with twenty-six of the seventy-six resident veterans playing fifty-one very serious games of bingo where the vets had the chance to win some of the $1,085 in commissary coupons available as prizes. This year, for the Chicago District’s annual Lenten spiritual event, members were invited to meet as a group to join the “Walk with Jesus” half-day event held on March 23, 2018, at the Carmelite Spiritual Center in Darien, Illinois. This event is open to the public and began with each attendee joining Father Colaresi, head of the Carmelite Spiritual Center, outside in the Meditation Garden. Continue reading →

The First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, District Anna Hurban of Chicago, hosted its fifteenth annual combined Senior Branch Christmas Party at the Orland Chateau in Orland Park, Illinois on Saturday, December 2, 2017 with a total of 368 senior branch members and guests in attendance, along with Rosemary Macko Wisnosky, Chicago Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic, National President Cynthia M. Maleski, National Secretary Denise Mackura, National Directors Joann Skvarek Banvich and Jeanette Palanca, Margaret Abildua, Indiana-Joliet District President, members of the recently merged Polish Women’s Alliance and members of the Joliet-Indiana District. The Anna Hurban Chicago District hosted its local 125th anniversary celebration on October 21st. The day started with Mass celebrated by Bishop Alberto Rojas at St. Jane deChantal Church in Chicago. Father Edward Cronin, pastor of St Jane’s, welcomed the group and concelebrated the Mass with Bishop Rojas.
