The First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, District Anna Hurban of Chicago, hosted its eleventh annual combined Senior Branch Christmas Party at the Orland Chateau in Orland Park, Illinois, on Saturday, December 6, 2014, with a total of 360 senior branch members and guests in attendance. FCSLA Junior Branches 39, 106, 174, 322, 339, 382, 427 and the Chicago District co-sponsored their fourth annual Junior Member Christmas Party at noon on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Simon Slovak Parish’s gymnasium. The Junior members participated in a snowman beanbag toss game, cookie decorating, ornament making, face painting, a coloring contest, and a raffle with seven super-raffle prizes. Continue reading →

Sunday, July 13, 2014, the Chicago Junior Branches sponsored “Bowling for all Ages III” for its Junior members and their families at the Centennial Bowl in Tinley Park, Illinois. Chicago District President, Mary Therese Tylus along with Fr. Saturday, June 21, 2014 was a bright, sunny, and joyous day as St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon, Illinois, a not-for-profit Catholic nursing home that was the first Roman Catholic nursing home in the Peoria Diocese (currently the only Catholic nursing home in the entire diocese of Peoria) celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

For the eighth year in a row, a handful of members from District Anna Hurban of Chicago met on Saturday, May 3, 2014 for its Join Hands Day event at the Edward Hines, Jr., VA Hospital. Twenty of the District members spent the afternoon with thirty-five of the resident veterans playing forty-nine serious games of bingo where the vets had the chance to win some of the $975 in commissary coupons available as prizes.
